Project Description

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44 DS – 2012

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44 DS is as loved for her sailing performance as for being comfortable at anchor.  Designed by Philippe Briand she continues the sleek Jeanneau design ethic and offers a very roomy interior.  This boat has had 2 private owners so never chartered.  She’s fully equipped for ocean cruising, with an exceptionally high level of maintenance by her English owners.

Mojo of Cowes is the 2 double cabin and ‘passage cabin’ model.  This means that there is a king-sized owner cabin aft which is vast, with its own en-suite bathroom, and then a very respectable double cabin forward, also with bathroom.  The passage cabin has twin bunks.  The saloon is light with a modern design.  The dining table is folding, so can be smaller when you’re sailing and then can seat 8 when you’re entertaining.  It is also drop-down for an extra double bunk or just for lounging.

The cockpit is a comfortable set-up and pretty big, with twin helms allowing access to the scoop when at anchor and the option to steer from the side you feel most comfortable at.  Each helm station has wind instruments and both sides can view the touch screen plotter centrally placed.  There is the full set of autohelm plus engine controls, bow thruster and depth/speed etc on starboard.   The cockpit table is fold down, with a custom mini table for day-to-day use.

This Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44 DS has a furling mainsail and furling self-tacking headsail.  The deck plan has running rigging coming to clutches and electric winch on the coachroof and under coamings to the 2 helm station clutches and winches.  All is designed to reduce clutter and to make this an easy boat to manage short-handed.  Then for some more sailing pleasure, Mojo is kitted with a code 0 gennaker and small spinnaker.

The systems needed for long distance cruising are all in place.  Solar, watermaker, great bimini and cockpit sun protection,  Epirb, sat phone it’s all there ready for you to take this boat cruising.

Mojo of Cowes arrived in French Polynesia in 2020 and can continue to cruise on her cruising permit until March 2023.

The Sun Odyssey 44 DS is a must see for anyone thinking of cruising that appreciates sailing on a well-designed, well maintained and comfortable monohull.  Sail Tahiti would be delighted to arrange a visit at your convenience, in person or by video.  Contact us!
