The all new Seawind 1170 is a design led by Seawind CEO and company founder, Richard Ward. As the designer of the successful and popular Seawind 1000, 1160 and 1260, Richard set out with the in-house team to deliver a modern set of lines, incorporating the best of modern technology, whilst staying true to the Seawind identity that is consistent throughout the range: Capable, practical and well thought out designs that offer safety and confidence to their cruising owners, finished to a world class standard.
As such, the Seawind 1170 will be familiar to those that know the brand, incorporating key features as part of the standard design.

How fast is the Seawind 1170 ?
Sailing performance was paramount to the design brief with the hulls being optimised for offshore cruising as a full CE Category A catamaran. Structural engineering is by world acclaimed New Zealand based, Gurit, who also engineered the 1160 and 1260 models. Common to all Seawinds, all hulls are fully infused with vinylester resin, offering greater structural properties and full osmosis prevention over the typical production catamaran. The 1170 also benefits from carbon reinforcement in key structural areas to keep the weight down and performance characteristics elevated.
How does the new Seawind 1170 compares to the other Seawind models?
At 39 foot, the 1170 is at the smaller end of the fleet but by no means should be assumed to be a coastal cruiser only. With a 600 ltr water tank (160 gal), 500 ltr of diesel storage (132 gal), twin 29hp Yanmar inboard diesels and ample space for optional large solar and lithium installations, this boat packs a lot of features suited for full live aboard blue water sailing. The large open cockpit area, combined with the signature Seawind trifold door system, the Seawind 1170 can transform into generous entertainment space for family and friends, with of course an aft cockpit BBQ. However at 39 foot, it is also a size very suitable for those wanting a catamaran easily manageable as a couple.
