The Brazapi 51 was designed by the Eric Lerouge, well known for his performance catamaran designs, the Freydis being one. The focus is fast, light and practical and Lerouge boats are known for sailing fast. Hiva Oa does not disappoint in this regard, weighing in at 12 tons empty for a 51-footer, or about half of similar 'performance' cats of the same size – the Catana 50 for example.
The rig is powerful and the fittings high quality: running rigging in dyneema, textile jammers, big electric winch at the helm station meaning that sail area management is quick and straight forward: for the mainsail as well as furlers for staysail, genoa and code five. There are also winches aft, for the mainsail traveller and 2 lateral winches and a winch at the mast. The cockpit is fully protected with rigid bimini and dodger and drop-down cockpit table. The whole space is impressive, both for sailing and relaxing.
The interior is luxurious: magnificent woodwork, large saloon dividend in the 3 parts. The galley faces the cockpit with white Corian worksurfaces, dishwasher and is fully equipped. Port side is the seating area with beautiful inlaid table, television and the chart table is on starboard facing forward. The starboard hull is the owner's suite with a vast owner's cabin and bathroom with separate shower, washer and dryer. The port hull has 2 guest suites, both doubles each with their bathroom.
Hiva Oa is fully equipped with only the best for ocean cruising: full set of solar panels, generator, Watt&Sea hydrogenator, diving compressor. The sails are an excellent specification for performance cruising, laminated polyester mainsail and staysail, genoa in spectra trilam. Add to this a code 5, great for fast downwind sailing.
Eric Lerouge's design gives an excellent performance catamaran made to cross oceans and handle tough conditions, but with the finish of a luxury yacht. A perfect blend for sailors passionate about fast cruising and exceptional design. To make up your mind, download the full inventory and contact us to arrange a visit.
