Project Description

Elan 450 – 2008

The Elan 450 Tanga is a fast-cruising monohull with an excellent speed-comfort balance.  The design is elegant with teak deck, 2 carbon wheels and carbon bowsprit, hydraulic swim platform and a spacious cockpit also with teak.  All the lines lead under the deck in ‘flush deck’ style and lead back to the cockpit to centralise all sail handling making this an easy and safe boat to sail.  The Elan 450 is fast at all sailing angles, be that to windward with 100% genoa and full batten mainsail or off the wind with gennaker on the carbon bowsprit.  The boat stays easy to manage thanks to deep twin rudders, important for long distance sailing.

The interior doesn’t disappoint either, in owner’s layout with a large double cabin forward and 2 double cabins aft, a practical galley and very light saloon with pale wood surfaces.  There are 2 bathrooms, of which one with separate shower.  There are many storage spaces, well thought out with wet locker for example.

Tanga was purchase by her current owners in 2019 (survey available on request) and well prepared for their sabbatical cruise: dyform standing rigging (2019), sails (2019), solar panels (2021), hydrogenator Watt&Sea and wind generator, watermaker and batteries (2021).  The condition of this boat is clearly above average.

The Elan 450 is a good choice for a blue-water cruise starting in French Polynesia.  She’s an elegant, comfortable and well-equipped fast sailing monohull.  Download the inventory for the full equipment list and get in touch to discuss your project.
