The Amel Super Maramu is a cruising classic, designed for comfortable shorthanded sailing. It has been an enormous success, with hundreds built from its inception in 1982. The features of the design are numerous and focus on making the boat safe, comfortable and elegant.
The ketch rig splits the sails into easily handled areas, the full-length stainless-steel railings give extra security on deck. There is an in-boom electric furling mainsail and mizzen sail, electric furling genoa and furling mizzen staysail. There are the trademark Amel whisker pole for a great downwind sailing set-up. The interior is luxurious and practical, with deep cupboards and attractive wood panelling. There is a double forward cabin and large aft owners’ cabin, both en suite. All the systems are designed to stand the test of time.
Sarpedon was bought by her current and 3rd owners in La Rochelle in France in 2011. The boat had been lightly sailed until then. Since their purchase, they have lived on board extensively and cruised from France to the South Pacific with many detours and adventures.
