43ft Aluminum centerboard – 1992
Cachoeira is a 43ft aluminum hulled full centerboard sloop, designed and build by Jean François ANDRE in 1993. She’s a long distance cruising boat designed for extreme conditions. Four examples of this boat were built, including one used by the adventurer Mike HORN to so the North West passage.
Cachoeira is single chined, built from AG4 aluminum with 12mm under the waterline and 8mm above. With a 2.2m – 1m draft from a full centerboard, she’s easy to beach.
The boat was purchase by her current owners in 1997 in Tahiti, from the builder himself. Since, they’ve done a full world cruise including 3 years in the southern climes.
The interior has an inside helming station, deck saloon, large forward bunk (2m by 1.8m), big galley in long and an aft cabin with door and heads. It’s a lot style and full of light, double glazed and insulated with a Dickenson stove and pulsed air heating.
The engine is an 80Hp Perkins, strong and long lasting, the service batteries are new, there is solar, wind generator and a simple set of electronics including 2 GPS, radar, VHF and AIS, depth and possibility to plug in a laptop. There is also a full set of paper charts. Included are many tools and items useful to repair and maintain the boat.
