The Hanse 400, designed by Judel/Volijk & Co. is what Hanse Yachts do well, a fast-performing cruising yacht. The wide beam gives a surprising amount of space down below for a 40ft boat, with 3 double cabins. It also gives the boat plenty of initial stability, so she stands up well to her large sail plan. The transom is slightly elevated reducing drag and performance is good in light airs and heavier conditions.
The Hanse 400 is light on the wheel, well balanced and easy to sail with sheet leads to the cockpit and self-tacking jib. Sailing shorthanded is not a problem, and she has a bow thruster to make docking easier.
Veguina lll arrived in French Polynesia in 2018 with her 2nd owners having sailed from France. She’s fully blue water cruising set-up, with watermaker, 470W of solar, iridium go. Her suite of sails is complete, with gennaker and asymmetric spinnaker to complete the Northsails hydranet mainsail and jib. Her standing rigging is from 2017.
She’s the perfect family sized boat for enjoying French Polynesia or sailing further afield. Comfortable, elegant and great for the performance minded cruiser.
