The Beneteau 50 designed by Bruce Farr is now a classic of the cruising circuit. A well-balanced boat with twin wheels that’s surprisingly easy to handle solo for a 50-footer. There is a big furling genoa and fully battened main which hoists using an electric winch. This winch also doubles to furl the genoa. Alize is a cutter set-up so has a staysail and an asymmetrical spinnaker giving many more sail setting options.
Alize has sailed from the Caribbean arriving this season. She is impressively well maintained and was prepared for her most recent cruise with some nice refurbishment and new equipment. Her hull and topsides as well as mast were painted with Awlgrip in 2009 so she’s shiny white, her anti fouling is recent. The staysail and spinnaker are from 2011 as are the furlers, with a new whisker pole, and the mainsail and genoa from 2009. The watermaker has new membranes, there is a watt&sea hydro generator, wind generator as well as a traditional westerbeke generator and service batteries from 2019. The dingy is light aluminium hulled and the outboard is from 2019.
The interior is in excellent condition, with warm wood finish and 4 double en suite cabins. There is a large cockpit table with a mirror finish. The oven and gas stove were replaced in 2012 and there is a microwave if needed. The cockpit is roomy with teak flowing in good condition and another mirror finished table, all protected by dodger and bimini with sunshades.
Alize is a very comfortable and beautiful boat that has been thoroughly prepared for cruising. She’s sized to welcome a family in their blue-water adventures. Download the inventory for full details.
